Whatever your motivation, the Centre for the Greek Language (CGL)
gives you the opportunity to start online courses.
The CGL, with over twenty years of experience in the fields of:
- evaluation, as it conducts the certification exams for Greek proficiency,
- teacher training for those teaching Greek as a second/foreign language, through the award-winning and long-running “Diadromes” program, and
- teaching practice, with the series of textbooks “KLIK στα ελληνικά”,
is expanding its activities to offer distance learning courses in Modern Greek.

Target group
Adults and teenagers (13-17 years old) from all over the world who are either beginners or have already learned the basics of Greek: Levels A1 (Beginner), A2 (Elementary), and B1 (Intermediate) according to the CEFR.
For adults, we offer both casual and intensive courses, in order to cater to a wider range of needs. For teenagers, we offer annual courses, with the possibility of late enrollment. See more information here.

Course modules
- Adult courses: choose between regular and intensive curricula, depending on your aims and workload.
- Teenager courses: enroll your children (13-17 years old) in an annual course. Didn’t sign in on time? There’s the option of late enrolling!
- Exam preparation: get ready to sit the Greek Language Certification Exams (May 2026)!
- Discussion groups: practice everyday Greek with your peers in a relaxed context!
Course length : Depending on module/level. Most courses are repeated throughout the year, so you can always enroll in later!
Students per class : 10-14 (private courses not available)
Class duration
- Adult & Teenager courses: 2 classes per week (1 class = 100 mins)
- Exam preparation & Discussion groups: varying
- Self-study time: from minimal to moderate, depending on course
Teaching method
- Online live instruction with experienced teachers.
- Asynchronous learning through cutting-edge language learning platforms and tools incorporating communicative teaching practices.
Teaching materials : Textbook series “KLIK sta ellinika” (published by the CGL), texts, videos, grammar and vocabulary sheets, games etc.
Language of communication : Greek (immersion in target language). In lower language levels, English and other languages are also used – all our teachers are multilingual!
