About the B1.a & B1.b Intensive courses

  • These fast-track courses are designed for motivated intermediate users of Greek that need to quickly improve their Greek and/or aim to pass the Greek Language Certification Exams (occurring every May & October). With a structured curriculum, frequent assessments, and expert guidance, you’ll be able to sit the B1 exam in just one year of instruction (assuming you were at the A2 level at the beginning of the course).
  • Students completing both courses are ready to participate in the B1 Greek Language Certification Exams.
  • 2 classes per week (1 class = 100 mins).
  • Moderate need for self-study (5-8 hours per week).

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of both B1 courses (B1.a & B1.b), you will be able to:

  • Understand the main points of clear standard input on topics you frequently encounter—work, school, leisure, etc.—both spoken and written.
  • Manage most situations while traveling in Greek-speaking contexts—asking for help, planning, understanding notices, etc.
  • Produce simple connected text on topics that interest you or are personal.
  • Narrate experiences, events, dreams, hopes, and ambitions, giving reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
  • Participate in conversations on familiar topics, exchanging information, comparing ideas, and discussing simple viewpoints.
  • Engage more deeply with contemporary Greek culture, through articles, media, conversation, and cultural traditions.
